Arpoador, Ipanema and Leblon. Beaches. Rio de Janeiro.

The city displays beautiful beaches,
which invite us to long outdoor walks
 in the amazing sceneries
 between beach and mountains.
Get ready for breathtaking moments of
 beauty and amazement.

Arpoador, Ipanema e Leblon.

Arpoador is one of the beaches
most favored by Cariocas and tourists,
for the beauty of its landscape
and for surfing, both in summer and winter.

 It is 800m long,
 stretching between Forte de Copacabana
 and Rua Francisco Otaviano
 with Av. Vieira Souto avenue.

The name of the place is due to
the fact that, in the past,
it was possible to harpoon whales
 from its shores
Do not miss visiting the rocks at Arpoador,
 the most beautiful spot
to watch the sunset and admire the sea.

Ipanema has 2 km of beach,
 located between Arpoador
 and Jardim de Alah,
and is famous for gathering beautiful people
on its sands and for its eternal "Girls from Ipanema".

Its sands have left their mark in the history

 of Bossa Nova music.

Ipanema is one of the favorite beaches
of Cariocas  for its charm and casualness,
 known around the world
due to the song entitled “Garota de Ipanema”
 (the girl from Ipanema),
by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Morais.

It is a showcase for the most beautiful
 bodies in Rio.
The beach is also the place for practicing
 several sports,
as well as being a stage for open air
 performances.
Among the favored activities are surfing,
 “frescobol”
(played with wooden rackets and a rubber ball),
 volley, football, foot volley.

Cariocas and tourists are used to
sitting on the sand at the end of the day,
to chat with friends and applaud
 the magnificent sunset.

Leblon is a beach much favored by families,
due to a special area reserved
just for children
 which was nicknamed Baixo Bebê.

It attracts young and beautiful people,
who can be seen strolling along its sidewalk,
on a preview of Carioca fashion trends.
At the end of the beach, close to the entrance
to Vidigal slum, there is a mirante (belvedere)
offering the most amazing view of the shores
 of Leblon and Ipanema.
